Video recording of smoke emission mandatory

From now on, it will be mandatory for PUC centers across the country to record at least 10 seconds of video during pollution checks. The vehicle number plate and testing procedure should be clearly visible in this video. After this, this video has to be uploaded on the VAHAN portal of the government.

This step is taken to stop fraud

The Transport Department implemented this new rule after it was found that many PUC centers were issuing certificates without proper investigation or in a fraudulent manner.

Mandatory requirement of PUC Certificate

According to the Motor Vehicle Act, it is mandatory to obtain PUC Certificate to drive a vehicle in India. In this test, the smoke coming out of the vehicle is examined, and on the basis of this a certificate is issued.

Process to obtain PUC Certificate

First of all, take your vehicle to the nearest emission test centre.
The operator will test the smoke by placing a testing device in the exhaust pipe of your vehicle.
A 10 second video of this entire process will be made, which will later be uploaded on the E-VAHAN portal.
After this, your Pollution Certificate will be issued, which you can also download online.
With this new rule, the government is taking an important step towards preventing rigging and improving pollution control.
